PRESENTATION

1. INTRODUCCIÓN.

The children community is a small institution, that shelters especially difficult children and children in bad circumstance, at present we are sheltering to 685 children and children from 1 month to the 17 years in our center of sandy grounds of Window. Also we counted on a house of social reintegration, for the minors who in course of the time are growing and must get up themselves to the society, in better conditions, this house are an average of 10 adolescent young people enters the 17 to 19 years old, which already follow with studies and/or work but outside the community. The services that the community of children offers are those to take care of and to protect to the children and children in risk, to give them to an education and solid Christian formation in values that allows them to live in this society and not to be part of the leave of absence but of the excellence of this our society, taking as the Jesus bases the lessons of our friend. The community of children has in self-financing the main pivot of its life, always believing in the cane of fish and not in the fish, we are creative of our own destiny, and this sense we counted on factories of formation and self of resources, such as the carpentry, bakery, silkscreen printing, ceramics, seam. The children of the community therefore not only attend the state schools to attend their respective studies, but They are prepared with abilities in the factories already mentioned. Through our center either with 18 years of operation or they have happened more than 1300 children and children who are inserted in the society. We count on the support of people of very good will in most volunteers who have come incorporated to this small work looking for a space in the heart from smallest. Now a days We are delivering all the attacks to leave our poverty to equip the children to them with conditions of life more adapted and to assure its feeding, in this sense we go of the hand with the providence that is to say.

2. HISTORY.

The following summary is a copy of a report carried out in the year 1999 that gives us an idea of the community

MIGUEL RODRIGUEZ AND HIS CHILDREN

There is who sustain that all people has a certain destination and that for more turns that she gives the life, the destiny happened inexorably. Perhaps that is the explanation for Miguel's history Rodriguez, a man that transformed his life when suffering a terrible loss, the one that at the same time allowed him, paradoxically, to carry out a marvelous social work

THE INCOMPREHENSIBLE DEATH

Twelve years ago, Miguel Rodriguez had quite normal life. He had formed a beautiful family and he had three children. He worked as director in an agency of news and he lived well, with all the comforts to those that any suitable family could consent.

Their life lapsed as always, when he was informed that his smallest son of six months had suffered a heart failure, he had to be taken to the emergency room of the "Boy's Hospital". He could arrive and see him some seconds before he dies because of a heart attack . From that moment there was a deep change in their interior and he was never the same one again.

Suddenly he noticed those children of the street (abandoned) with lack of money, coat, food and home, but they had life.

"My son had a heart attack and they revived it, he was well, but it lasted him three minutes, he looked at me, he smiled me and he had a massive heart attack and died. All my arrogance was deflated in that second, the fact of to have and not to have a lot. That changed my attitude of life. When I left the hospital I founded two children of the street, they requested medical attendance, they didn't assist them, they were very dirty, they smelled bad, they were children of anybody and they didn't have two soles (half dollar) to pay, because they surely expended their money consuming terokal (shoe glue used as a drug). I met with that image, me with my boy and with money, them without money but with life. There I realized that they were really hugged by God and that they lived not with an invisible thread as us, but with a rope very tied to him. He gave me a lesson of love, impressive father's love, they could live, God has taken mine, he surely needed him more than I."

THE BEGINNING OF THE CHANGE

From now on Miguel Rodriguez left to the street to the encounter of those children. "I decided go to look for these boys, I buried my son and I promised a thing to God that would make a war to make the children to be worthy. The days passed, I went to the street and I met with the ingrate surprise that they are not 50 or 100 children, they are not the four or five that you see in television stealing, they are thousands of small children, they are children that walk down the street with the hand of God and we don't realize, it is an impressive social debt that we have.

"I began to take them food, medicines, I became a different person with a limited commitment, I went to my work and at night I was with them". He lived this way some time until one day, I had a complicated situation that would end up changing his style and rhythm of life.

"In a moment four children told me: I no longer want to be in the street, I want to live with you, you are good guy"; then the human being's weakness made me say No. I thought, a moment, my commitment is to give food, but not to take them to live with me. I had two children, (now I have three again, the thin gave me other back); then I got a non complicated life until at the end one of them cried and he told me "I no longer want the street, I want to be with you."

I took the four with me, it was the first happier night of my life, neither my marriage neither anything had been so beautiful, I felt that I didn't walk, it flew with them. We arrive at the house, we had dinner, I killed myself of laugh with their histories, the following day I got up and I didn't find them, they had left.

I asked me "why?", and asked the 'thin' (god), "what happened?, you gave me a candy and now you take it away from me, I want to make something but if you don't want, I will not make anything". I decided not to go to the street, I decided to return to my work, I decided be a standard Christian again, that night I was reading my newspaper, they call me to the door and they were the four children, they put the head and they told me: "we have returned", with a total and absolute patience. I was with anger, with anger, I went back and I asked them what had happened, they told me : we went to look for our friends because they also want to live in your house; I take out the head and saw eight boys more, a lesson of these children's love."

THE EXODUS

It is probable that Miguel Rodriguez didn't imagine the consequences of his acts, neither the magnitude of the work that had already begun. He took the things that he had and he moved with his family and the group of children to a dessert in a poor Human establishment , on the north edge of Lima. He requested that land to the authorities , and was given to him

"My department was very small and my problems began with the neighborhood. Those were hard moments for me and my wife, to know that a lot of friends turned against us. I remember that I went to the park (with the kids) and people left immediately because my poor children looked different. At the end we decide to sell the house and we came here, to this sandbank. I made my first house, in the one that now the carpentry shop is, we were no longer 12 but 20, 25, 30, I sold the car, I sold all that had, there was nothing else, then I said I will finish selling me, we begun to make our first business.

Trying to leave the difficulty we made birthday cakes, I never before had made it in my life, but I learned, we begin to make bread in cans, we made all that we could, we sold it and we realized that we were capable of many things. But there it happens us something very strong, the police came, it stopped me, they accused me of children's kidnapping (for living with the abandoned children) and at the end they wanted to make a "deal" for ,000 dollars to set me free. A priest friend took out me and at the end anything happened because neither the children were taken, I began to make the legal steps to be an institution and I denominated it "Sacred Family".

"We were already legal , but this continued growing. There already were 50, 60 children, the first girl appears, we made the first house for girls, we begin with a lot of effort to make our shops better mounted."

THE SACRED FAMILY

Last May 13 the Community Sacred Family celebrated 12 years of foundation. The creation of the community, according to its founder, was born as consequence of the things of the destination. In that sense it sustains, "I have always been a Christian, but 12 years ago I was a Christian without work, this because I went to the church , it felt well and I was very concerned in making my christian meetings with my friends in my house to pray a while and later to take a wine, but I believe that God and their roads have things for each one of us":

At the moment in the community live 208 children, of which 90 are girls (this article was written in 1999). Each one of them is a different world, there are orphan children, condemned parents' children to life imprisonment, and an endless number of cases, harrowing some of them.

"The tribunal of children sends them to us, we also pick them up, and sometimes the parents come to leave them because they don't like them since they escape. There is also who are interned in rehabilitation centers, alcoholic fathers, drug addicted mothers.

"There are two girls that are here and that their parents have been condemned to life imprisonment by increased terrorism, the biggest has nine and the minor is seven years old. Their parents have been sent to Yanamayo (terrorists prison on Peruvian mountains), others parents are on other jails"

"In the Community Sacred Family we only accept children from two years up to 16 as maximum. Until that age we have to form them in carpentry, bakery, ceramic, and to look for jobs for them. I have 20 that are about to leave and we try to accommodate them in different companies, but is very hard due to the high unemployment situation we have in Peru." (this article was written in 1999, now the community has children since 6 months old)

Once they have turned 16 years, the youths should abandon the community and leave to live alone. They won't be able to return in the following three months, not even of visit, this to demonstrate that they are leaving ahead.

"Yesterday we said goodbye to one because it had already completed the age, he is playing in a team of professional soccer, he studies the high school and we get him a work in a carpentry, also a room and he had to say goodbye to leave a bed free , another boy will arrive today, we have a list of 600 children to enter, but we have nowhere to put them, there is no space. We grew a lot, we wanted to be the 12, but we have grown in geometric proportion and if tomorrow I leave to the street I bring twice as much."

For Rodriguez the worst thing that can be made to these children is not to give them an opportunity.

"I believe that they deserve dignity, they don't deserve to be insulted, they are treated as criminals, the newspapers writes about street children stealing but the don't know what hunger is, they don't know what is not to have a father or to have it but that he is more a problem that a solution, they hit them, they mistreat them, there are parents that have broken the bones to her children, there was a father that hit with an iron in the head to a girl and that he thrown her away , we are with her in the middle of treatment, in her third surgery. There are parents that have made atrocities, burning the feet or hands of their sons, even making sexual violations, and we fill our mouths saying they are criminals , perhaps God comes in form of a homeless kid, because he won't always have a beautiful face, maybe have a cut face, a face replete of pain and anguishes."

3. BASIC INFORMATION

The home is located in the settlement Human Keiko Sofia Fujimori Mz U1 Lt 9 in the district of Callao Window altitude of 37.5 km Av. Panamericana Norte in the city of Lima.

The weather is humid most of the year a little warm in summer.

Their activities at home are carpentry, bakery, pottery, sewing and music.

4. POPULATION WOULD BE OF BENEFIT

There are children from 0 months from birth to 17 years. There are 320 girls and 360 boys.

5. OBJETIVES

To take care of and to protect all boy who is in difficult, young of the street, left morally and materially.

To have spaces with psychological social development.

Give them to a education based on solidarity, love and the Christian values

To guard by its good feeding, education and health.

To attend the ancestors who are in difficulties, parents in the jail for many reasons (alcoholic drug addicts, etc.)

To support all person who requires.

6. ORGANIZATION

At the moment boys and girls live in the community, we believe firmly in the human person's dignity, so we are very interested in generate our own resources

But also we are realistic and at this time we cannot cover all the necessities of a little bit big family, so we count on with many friendly people and institutions who allow us to live and be hopefully look at the future

The community of children SACRED FAMILY is an effort of all, based on the love, the faith and the hope in Jesus.

We believe in a new man, we work trying to make that the dream of our children doesn't die in the intent, together we will be able to achieve it, together we will be able to say... I love you..... world

Houses.

The community this divided in small modules for a certain sex and age range of the children

The first five houses works in the Zapallal community and the last one in Ventanilla (30 minutes from the main community) because here is where the children should go out of the community and fit into the society

In each module is a person that accompanies them the whole day this person is called the "educator", she is something like a mother or father substitute, we also have a social assistant , two psychologists and a support personnel for each module.

The community has also teachers for the workshops in charge of teaching and directing the production for helping on trying to leave our constant crisis

We also have a physician and a dentist inside our little hospital (you can learn from it in the projects section), they help also our children with no cost for us

Our children go to the near schools this way we try to insert them in a normal way in the society, only the children of 3 and 4 years pass classes in our community.

The foods after our prays are received in a quite big dining room.

Our life is always developed in the happiness of knowing that we can make it, and that we have time since we are alive.

The smile of a boy inside our house is the entrance better world, we hope to have your presence some day

7. WORKSHOPS FOR OWN DEVELOPMENT

For our community the creation of the workshops has meant the survival, on the base of them we have been able to survive, it is clear that until today we are not able to cover but the 20 percent of the expense of the community, but it is for us the fundamental weapon to maintain our dignity and to continue working, with the faith that some day we will be able to reach this so desired objective: the total self-financing.

But the central objective of the formation of workshops is the children, to develop capacities to be able to be work in our society, and this way to be able to contribute a little bit in the development of our world.

We consider at the same time that this productive formative work of shops contributes significantly therefore in the harmonic development of the children we reiterate that it allows us to SURVIVE WITH DIGNITY.

The shops that at the present time count they are:

Carpentry, Ceramic, Bakery and Hydrophone

The workshops that we think about in a mediate future are:

Printing (books) Workshop, upbringing of animals, seam Workshop, fabric Workshop, metal-mechanics Workshop, Workshop of motors to explosion and computing Workshop.

Carpentry Workshop

Our carpentry counts with more than 13 years working and it is one of the shops that doesn't only generate certain quantity of resources, but also enables the children to work and gives them the possibility that in a future they can work as carpenters - cabinetmakers, our carpentry has machinery although not top of the line, but with certain technology that allows us to develop all type of works in wood excepting the carved ones

Our activities in this Workshop are not only framed in developing the work in wood but also in trying to recycle wood in such a way that doesn't leave mistreating even more our environment consuming trees.

Inside this Workshop we have a teacher carpenter who is the master of the little ones, they enter in groups of 4 for 2 continuous hours, attempting this way to transmit their knowledge and the children to assimilate so that in a future with their skilled hands can make of the furniture an art.

The carpentry generates very diverse revenues for that varied that it is its production, but basically the great function of this Workshop rests in that allows us to give the children labour therapy, where they are involved from the beginning until the culmination of a work

Ceramic Workshop

The ceramic as all the shops that we count is the base of our operation, since it allows us to generate resources, but this Workshop is dedicated to the smallest children mainly, because it works with clay and the minor with the ability of their hands can model this making interesting and significant figures and forms, this is very important in their development process.

In this Workshop it is not worked solely traditional ceramic, but rather is carried out advertising ceramic for the big companies that operate in the local market, us, as any ceramic company try to accommodate our products competing trying to achieve that our products are accepted by the customers.

We have lathes and a ceramic oven that allows us to do the work from the beginning until the culmination, having for it a teacher ceramist who is the one that teaches the children the art of the ceramic.

The revenues that it generates the ceramic are very diverse for the characteristics of the commercialization of the ceramic

Workshop of Bakery

The bakery Workshop is the most important in our community, not only because it give us an occupational and labour therapy to the children, but because it allows that every day in our tables a piece of bread can exist for each one of the children, this marvellous workshop has sustained us during many years, and has become one of the symbols of the work we are doing with the children, now many of them already can at this time be considered teachers bakers.

In spite of not having an appropriate machinery, we work arduously to achieve the more wanted and pleasant products, in this sense we have a traditional oven of brick and two machines that allow to mix and to cut the mass. Our work is practically handmade, but the results are very efficient; each year end we elaborate what is known as the Christmas PanetÃ³n (cake) in our country, which is offered to the companies and people that collaborate with us and this way we can finance many more activities inside our community, since the sale of this cake allows us many revenues that help to the community.

Workshop of Hydrophony

The characteristics of the area we are is a nitrous sandbank because our land is near to the sea, and therefore nothing can be sowed in the floor that God has given us, therefore was necessary to find a way of sowing so that the children can have fresh vegetables. In this sense, we decide to build a hydrophone Centre where we have lettuces, celery, turnip, onion, beet, radish, spinach, bean grown on sand or stone or simply above water. This is allowing us to have the necessary vegetables for an appropriate feeding of the children, in spite of the fact that for moments this Workshop closes for invasion of mosquitoes, every 3 months we start again, avoiding this way the use of any insecticide.

The hydrophone workshop is not economically productive but rather it is productive formatively and in the feeding of the children it completes a primordial paper.

Serigraphy

The Workshop of Serigraphy of recent creation is a Workshop that we believe that in some time it will be able to begin giving us its fruits, we could already print the first 100 t-shirts, although we don't have any machinery type we believe that we can make something to make this formative and productive Workshop for the children

These are the shops that at the present time are working, we continue in the search of efficiency in the actual ones and we are searching for new ones, to achieve the self founding objective

8 DESCRIPTION OF NEEDS

There are many ways of help one of them is just to think of the other ones and to look our neighbour with a smile, maybe this it is the most difficult, but it is good to make it every day and the world will be better, at least in our world works .

We wait a helping hand that allows us at these difficult times to be able to go on.

You will understand that to pay the maintenance (foods, dress, housing, medicines, services, education) of our children it is very difficult; we have many forms of making a reality the solidarity.

HELPING IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF OUR LIBRARY

In its objectives the Community of Children has the education of the children as main goal, knowing that these children are the adult futures and that a society without education cannot obtain nor the autonomy, nor the democracy… It is thus we want to enclose to our actions a library allowing to our children to grow with the custom to read, to investigate by itself without only taking into account mass media, arriving at the freedom of opinion and thought. On the other hand, the library is a peaceful space, of relaxation, and of rest that our children need to be able to find I balance harmonious. In fact the library will be equipped of modern means counting on computers, Internet, forming therefore a virtual and interactive library. This project would allow us to have a space adapted for the scholastic tasks, giving tools them to investigate. And simultaneously a person suitable and dedicated to accompany to them in its studies, being taught to him to love and to take care of books like treasure and universal wealth, opening the doors to the world, history and the imagination.

HELP FINANCING THE FOOD

The cost of a boy's feeding is approximately S /. 10.00, that is to say $3.5 daily dollar, what represents: a breakfast (2 breads, a cup of milk), 1 lunch and a dinner that is the same thing than the breakfast. This means that a month of food costs is approximately S /. 300 or per boy

Our also need medicines, furniture, clothes and equipment (especially computers) material of infrastructure, Cleaning goods

PROJECT LIBRARY

1. INTRODUCTION.

Each project implies the presentation of this request that will be studied by the people who conform the Civil Association Community of Sagrada Children Family, Miguel Rodriguez Candia, and/or with la/s persona/s in that this one delegates. The present project comprises of an action set that has like aim the sustainable development of the Community of Sagrada Children Family, and thus to guarantee the basic services for physical, psychic, emotional and social the development of the children who are welcomed by this institution. We work with the conviction which the cooperation between both institutions will assure the continuity of the Community of Sagrada Children Family having allowed the good development of our common objective: to offer to a worthy future to these children and children and to in this way change a small part of the world

1.1National Context:

Peru has a percentage lifted of illiteracy, reaching 35% of the population in particular in the isolated zones of the mountain range and the forest. To the national level it did not leave the information that a boy does not read more than 1 book to the year, and either does not enter the scholastic programs to study some classic works.

The module will be built on 100 meters square and will count of an atmosphere done of noble material (brick and cement)

4.2 Period of evaluation within the project

The project is thought to be realize in two months, having to be made a pursuit every 15 days according to the advance of works. There will be technical information of advance of the work in charge of Mr. Edinson Portocarrero guards. The monthly shipment of documents and information written, the photos and the evaluations will be in charge of Lili coordinating Devries.
